The Lumberjack Bash - Axe V-Day

Valentine’s Day celebrations can, at times, be so forced and out of touch with the traditional purpose of such a day. To show love, compassion, sympathy, and romance. But, this does not mean that the day is reserved for lovers and over the top opulence. Instead, take the time to spend time and make memories with all of the people in your life that make it special.Axe V-Day – The Lumberjack Bash

In this spirit, we present to you, a new take on an old day. By transforming Cupid’s arrow into a 12 inch throwing axe we were able to host an amazing event with a laid back theme.

The Theme

This was fairly easy to come up with. Coupling the celebration of Valentine’s Day and all it has to offer – red, white, black, hearts, richness – with the built in activity of axe throwing – wood, metal, fun, laid back – we were well on our way to putting together a super simple event that would have a lasting memory for all who attend. Poof! There is the theme, a laid back lumberjack axe throwing V-day party. Once all of the invites are out, making this vision come to life is the task.

The Décor

Space is limited and the guests will be busy through the duration of the event – given the activity – so keeping everything accessible and simple is key. This party set up requires little more than a quick and simple backdrop and a loaded table set-up.

  • Braided table cloth backdrop

  • Black and red to mimic plaid

  • Black table top

  • Food set-up

  • Always has a logical flow e.g. glasses next to the beverages, plates next to the food, etc.

  • Randoms

  • Fake trees wrapped with burlap

  • Heart cutouts – cardstock and scissors go a long way

  • Axe – mini noodle, cardboard, aluminum foil, and a lot of double-sided tape

  • Red, black, and aluminum buckets/pails/scoops

  • Beer bucket and red cups

  • Cups have chalkboard stickers which let guests personalize their glasses

The Food

The party is set for late afternoon (4 pm), this way the party does not impede on any, possible, dinner plans for those who enjoy the traditional fete. So, for food there will only need to be light snacks and finger foods to satisfy a light appetite.

  • Charcuterie board

  • Elevate this simple display with on theme service ware

  • Mix ‘n’ Match snacks

  • Easy to set up and replenish

  • Simple brown lunch bags are used as carry bags – cheap and effective

  • BAKED Dessert

  • On theme tree stump cake courtesy of Dawn Garnette

The Drinks

This event, and venue, was great because it allows for the host to bring their own food and drinks. When creating the display, keep the theme and ease of clean up in mind. Ziploc bags full of ice can go a long way.

The Fun

One of the best parts about this event was the main attraction and activity, axe throwing. All of the guests were really excited by the prospect of tapping into their early colonel spirit. The laid back atmosphere had attendants laughing and carrying on the entire time. This was a great idea for a fun adult party.
