Throwing a TOUCHDOWN Party for Super Bowl

The time is upon us. A Sunday where we have permission to pig out, get loud, and have fun. You can put together a Super Bowl with any kind of budget. From a casual and intimate gathering of friends to a trendy sports fanatic fantasy world. No matter what the scale, here are 10 tips for throwing the best Super Bowl party of the season.

1. Determine who is coming and send out the invite.

Take into consideration how much space you have, what the budget is, and make sure to invite a nice mix of people. Not everyone has to be a die-hard fan, but you definitely do not want the room full of people that are only there to see Queen Bey (so excited!!)

2. Clean up and Arrange the scene

No only should your place/venue to tidy and presentable, make sure that you are re-arranging (if necessary) your furniture in a way that makes sure everyone can get some TV time. Create a nice big space in the middle that can serve as a pile up for well acquainted guests. Make sure to leave plenty of room so that roamers can swing by and take a look at the game – AND ON THAT NOTE, MAKE SURE THE TELEVISION IS ONE THAT CAN BE SEEN!!!

3. Show your passion

Make your place into a football haven. Get out the team colours and sports paraphernalia. Get your guests into the theme and a part of the excitement. Props may be needed.

4. FOOD!!!

This should’ve gone first! Make you have a well thought out and executed meal plan!! That does not mean you have to offer 15 choices of food and apps. It is much better to do 3 really well then a bunch mediocre. Try to create dishes that can be prepared ahead of time and easily replenished. DON’T FORGET THE NAPKINS!

5. BOOZE!!

Another staple to every football party. Beer and cocktails. I myself am going to a big party tomorrow and I can’t wait to see some of the creations that this fancy host comes up with. Make sure you are well stocked with beer and cups. Also, be sure to have some non-alcoholic drinks available for our non-drinking and/or driving guests

6. Skip the formalities!

No need for the fine china and chilled beer glasses. Keep it simple. Plastic and paper all the way!

7. Lay it out

Make food easy to access and serve. Do not have displays that are overly complicated or have the guests fumbling with four different forks to make a poutine. Keep it all simple, maybe even pre portioned. That way you can reserve all the finicky work to the prep area. Keeps the traffic low and guests happy.

8. Keep ‘em entertained

I know, we’re watching the game, but don’t be afraid to implement some activities for your guests to enjoy during the game, commercials, and half time show.

  • Squares

  • Super Bowl commercial BINGO

  • Drinking games (for fans and non-fans) ß links on our BOARD

9. HALFTIME SHOW!!

You two have a show at halftime to prepare for. Guests will undoubtedly use this time to refresh, empty, and fill their vices. Make sure you stay on top of food, drink and washroom supplies.

10. Clean up team

Make it a priority to establish a clean-up team. With the right people and determination clean-up can be a breeze *NB: paper and plastic
